Too much to do

too much to do

You’re in absolute overwhelm, you are working so hard with too much to do and I feel you, I really do. This is something I used to struggle with on a chronic level and I have since found a way to manage my feelings of overwhelm whenever they decide to strike.

First of all, take some time to slow down your breathing, slow everything down for the next few minutes. I know you probably have feelings of wanting to run around like a headless chicken but trust me on this for the next few minutes. It will really help you to take some time for meditation and get yourself grounded first. You’re not going to be able to tackle anything in a state of panic.

Once you’re done with your meditation get a post it note, index card or piece of paper and draw the lines/quadrants that I have explained to you in the video. This method is called the Eisenhower box method. I also explain how to clearly define what is urgent, what is important etc. How to put all your one million and one things to do in each quadrant and what goes where. This will help you with finding balance in your business and your family life.

So tell me, What are you going to stop doing today? What can you let go of? sometimes we are trying so hard to be super human, you know what? There’s nothing wrong with you. You’re perfect the way you are, you don’t have to get EVERYTHING done today, give yourself room and space to breathe and to grow, before you know it one task after the other will have been crossed out. If you’re still not sure on what to go into what box, please leave a comment in the box below, i’d love to help you with your priority list.

Natural Cold Remedies

Natural cold remedies

I have just been recovering from a cold. These are the natural cold remedies I have been using without the need for medication. This is completely natural. Here is a list of what I talk about in the video:

  • Fresh Lemon and Ginger
  • Nature’s Answer – Echinacea and Goldenseal
  • Apple Cider Vinegar. I took it about 2-3 times day.
  • My essential oils were amazing too: Lavender and Tea Tree Oil. They are both anti-bacterial.
  • Crystals: I used an aquamarine – very good for throat chakra and sore throats, I show you my massive aquamarine in the video. I also held unto a rose quartz crystal.

There was no need for paracetamol or medication and I was cured in 3 days, went out for 2 of those days. I did use a vicks vapour rub though too. Does that count as medication?

What do you do when you have cold? What are your go to Natural Cold Remedies that have worked well for you? Let me know in the comments box below.

DIY or Hire A Pro? Who’s Developing Your Website?

make home page

You have a clear vision of what you want your website to be like, and a fierce determination to make home page into a reality. (Vision not clear yet? Sign-up for my free Plan and brand your website workbook and I’ll get you started.)

So what next? Hand over your plans and money to a professional web designer, or build your own website DIY-style?

As a self-taught web developer turned pro, with hundreds of beautiful websites and happy customers to my name, I’m in the perfect position to offer a balanced opinion on whether you should go it alone or pay for expert assistance.

Are you in the perfect position to DIY?

If the answer to any of these is ‘yes’ then DIY might be the right web development route for you.

#1 You Need Something Simple

For many businesses a simple vanilla website is all they need. Some text, photos and a contact us page. Somewhere they can call home for now and add to later. And vanilla doesn’t mean it’s bland and boring. You can still put your visual stamp on the site with the right colours, fonts and graphics, and by injecting your personality into the words. You can even add e-commerce and appointment booking systems using simple plug-ins without too much drama.

#2 You Want To Nurture Your Website-Baby Over Time

When you construct your own website, you know it inside and out. You know how it works, how it’s put together, and what you can tweak. You have the ability to nurture your site over time, further developing it as your business grows. You’ll be able to save money long-term by making changes and updates yourself. And when you need to hire a pro for more complicated changes, you will be in a position to have a meaningful conversations with them and appreciate the complexity of work involved.

#3 You Love To Learn

If you embarked on entrepreneurship because you love to learn new things, then building your own website may be a productive new hobby for you. One man’s toil is another man’s pleasure, and I can tell you from first-hand experience there is plenty of joy and satisfaction to be experienced when creating your own website (frustration and panic too, but as an entrepreneur you’ll be used to that rollercoaster).

When to call in the professionals

#1 You Want Sauce + Sprinkles

Plain vanilla websites are a good place to start your web development education. But if you want sauce, sprinkles and maybe even a wafer on top, it’s time to call in the pros. Prominent branding throughout the site, special buttons, a specific look and layout, interactive sites with e-commerce, booking systems and the many other more complex things you could wish for, should be handled by an expert. They aren’t cheap (especially the good ones) so be prepared to set aside a budget for this. If your budget is tight, don’t be afraid to ask for a payment plan option. Most developers, like myself, will accept a deposit for a small amount to lock your booking with them then take staggered payments as milestones are reached.

#2 You Want It Right This Very Second

The majority of entrepreneurs are looking for cost effective solutions to get a business off the ground quickly. Learning to build your own website will not be the fastest way to create an online presence. However, even if you plan on hiring a professional, you need to plan ahead. The best designers have a waiting list of clients, so get a date in their diary and deposit in their bank account to secure your spot in the schedule as soon as your decision to hire is made.

#3 You’ve Reached The Limit Of Your DIY Skills

If you already have DIY’d your site and now find yourself stuck in certain areas, a professional will save you A LOT of tears and frustration. When you want to do something complex the cost of your time (and energy) to learn more skills vs. the financial cost of hiring a developer will swing the decision in the pro’s favour.

Have It Both Ways

As most websites will require a common core of pages and basic functionality, many entrepreneurs choose to develop this basic starter site themselves. It gives them the opportunity to play around with the look of the site until they’re completely satisfied without driving a designer nuts. Plus their experience of developing the site gives them a new appreciation of the complexity of the work and the possibilities for functionality and appearance.

An Alternative To Solo DIY’ing

Before you skip off into the sunset to grab your domain, hosting and WordPress install, let me share some of my experience with you.

make home page

Attempting to create a website myself (without appropriate support or training) took me much longer than hiring a professional. Piecing together WordPress tutorials from around the Internet was time-consuming, and frustrating. The videos were often out of date or incorrect. And when I had a specific question about my set-up, I was forced to ask forums full of strangers for their help.

To save other entrepreneurs time, money and energy when creating their own WordPress website, I’ve developed a comprehensive training program with wrap-around support. You can go from zero coding skills to launching your self-developed WordPress website in 14 days.
